Similes & Metaphors

Simile: A comparison between two similar things using like or as. It kinda creates like a vivid description for the reader to understand what the writer is trying to describe. In writing it shows us a better picture of where the setting takes place, the description of the characters, and description for almost anything. Using simile in writing will definitely make the writing better.

A Hug From A Mother
By: Byron Cevallos

A hug is like a blanket,
Warm and comfortable.
But a hug from your mother,
Is aspriceless as a ruby.

Metaphor: A metaphor is basically a simile without using the words "like" or "as". It also describes comparison between two or more things. This also is something huge that will help in making your writing better if you put metaphors. People often use more simile than metaphors cause similes are easier to make.

Her Love
By: Byron Cevallos

Her love is the adrenaline in my heart,
The lifeline that pumps through my soul.
And every time she’s in my arms,
She fills my veins with life.

Remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr.

The rights that we take for granted were fought by many Civil Rights leaders including Martin Luther King Jr! Dr. King explained in his last speech that "I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land." Dr. King hoped that  that even though they did not live in a world of equality, he knew that one day, equality will be achieved for we the people in the near future. If Dr. King would come into my class tomorrow, he would be mostly proud and some what disappointed.

Dr. King would be proud because of what he sees in my classroom is of mixed backgrounds. He would see that a white teacher is able to teach students that are hispanic, black or any other race. He knew that one day that there will be equality in the United States and he was right. He would also be proud of how we have been using our Civil Rights. He would see that we have a black president that is elected 2 times now. He knew that one day everything that he had hoped would come true will come true.

He would also be disappointed. He would be more disappointed towards my school. Most of the students sag their pants, be in gangs, and even saying many curse words. He would see that we used our Civil Rights in the wrong form from what we do in school everyday. He would probably make another speech that talks about people that misuse the Civil Rights like how my school does. Originally sagging came from prision and people said that it is cool to do it because it means you are tough.

During most of Dr. king adult years, he wore suits on most of the days. The students now all have different types of styles for clothing. Most of the styles that the students have include sagging. Dr. kind would never approve of that. He would still be to proud from what he knew that we will achieve equality. If he saw the whole United States, he would even be more proud.

Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven

One, two, one, two, three

Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
Oh yeah yeah

Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!

Never had much faith in love or miracles
Never wanna put my heart on the line.
But swimming in your world is something spiritual
I'm born again every time you spend the night

Cause your sex takes me to paradise
Yeah your sex takes me to paradise

And it shows, yeah, yeah, yeah
Cause you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long

Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!

You bring me to my knees
You make me testify
You can make a sinner change his ways
Open up your gates cause I can't wait to see the light
And right there is where I wanna stay

Cause your sex takes me to paradise
Yeah your sex takes me to paradise

And it shows, yeah, yeah, yeah
Cause you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long

Oh oh oh oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Can I just stay here
Spend the rest of my days here
Oh oh oh oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
Can't I just stay here
Spend the rest of my days here

Cause you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long
Yeah you make feel like, I've been locked out of heaven
For too long, for too long

Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Ooh!
